The natrolite gemstones offered for sale on this page come from Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec. This locality is famous among gem and mineral collectors throughout the world for its wide variety of fine minerals and rare gemstones. Many of the gem and mineral species found at Mont Saint-Hilaire are found nowhere else on earth. While natrolite gems are not unique to Mont Saint-Hilaire, they are one of the better known gems from this prolific locality.
Natrolite from Mont Saint-Hilaire is generally colourless. While several faceted stones larger than 10 carats are known, most are much smaller. Any natrolite gem over 2 or 3 carats from Mont Saint-Hiliare should be considered large. With a hardness of 5 - 5.5 on Moh's hardness scale and its 2 directions of cleavage, natrolite is too soft and fragile to use in rings. Natrolite could be used in earrings and pendants if set and worn with care.
