SAPPHIRE - Beluga Property, Kimmirut, Baffin Island, Nunavut
Until recently, high-quality transparent sapphire had never been found in Canada.  In 2002, gemmy blue sapphire was discovered in the Canadian Arctic, near the hamlet of Kimmirut on the south coast of Baffin Island, Nunavut.  This is certainly one of the most exciting gem finds ever made in Canada.  The gemstones offered for sale on this page come from two sites on True North Gem's Beluga sapphire property on Baffin Island.  The first is the original discovery zone and site of True North's bulk samples - "the Beluga Pit".  The second site, called the "Aqpik Zone", was discovered nearby a few years later.  I am very excited about being able to offer these sapphire gemstones for sale.  You can learn more about this occurrence here.
